Converting chemical recommendations to food RDA...

We often receive a question about converting the amounts of our Vitamin C from recommendations based on supplementing with ascorbic acid (sold as Vitamin C). Many will ask, "How do I equate the mega-dosing of 1,000 mg of ascorbic acid to your Vitamin C?" The 'logical' answer would be, "(4) X 250 mg Vitamin C complex tablets will give you the equivalent" but, that would be wrong.

We can not simply convert one dosage to the next as we are not dealing with equivalent materials or similar materials. The ascorbic acid method (chemicals), taken in high doses, becomes a *pro-oxidant , as it is a chemical.

Rather than focusing on: "How much of the food do I need to equate to the same recommendations based on chemicals?' the question should be: "how much of the food supplement will I need to take to receive my desired goal with the vitamin?"

(*Pro-oxidant is the opposite of Antioxidant, Pro-oxidants work in the development of Free Radicals and could be a causation towards Cancer development)

Let's Compare...

The important thing to consider is our bodies are of nature, and require foods in a natural form. Supplements are or were intended to provide the bridge in our nutritional gaps. Chemicals can not and will not satisfy this need as they are incomplete, or isolated, chemical nutrients void of food factors such as: proteins, carbohydrates, fatty acids, enzymes, lipids, etc.

Grown By Nature's Vitamin C is delivered to your body by concentrated oranges. When you compare that to chemical source vitamin c, sold as "ascorbic acid", that chemical substance is produced from hydrogenated sugars which is then processed with acetone.

We're not dealing with comparing oranges to oranges or even oranges to apples. Instead, we have to compare our oranges to hydrogenated sugar and nail-polish remover.
